THE 2020 SILVERADO HD REDESIGN BRINGS IMPRESSIVE UPDATES TO POWER AND TECH

In 2019, sales of the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD jumped 7.1%–and impressive updates for the 2020 model make it likely those numbers will continue to climb.
The Silverado HD redesign left no part of the truck untouched, so you’ll notice changes to the mechanics, technology, and exterior.
Read more about how Chevrolet managed to improve on an already stylish, reliable, and popular heavy-duty truck.
EXTERIOR
The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is bigger than its predecessor. While last year’s model closely mimicked the light-duty version of the truck, the 2020 model stands apart with a large body size and an imposing front end.
POWER AND MECHANICS
Chevrolet went all out in this department, and you’ll notice many improvements including:
The 2019 model had a 6.0-liter V8 with 360 HP. In the Silverado HD redesign, it’s bumped up to a 6.6-liter V8 with 401 HP.
Max 5th wheel towing capabilities jumped from 14,400 pounds to 15,400 pounds.
A new base gas engine is available, and this larger V8 delivers more power including incredible 5th wheel towing of up to 35,500 pounds.
An available Allison 10-speed automatic transmission is a significant improvement of the 2019’s 6-speed.
One thing that didn’t change is that, like the 2019 model, the 2020 still comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but an upgrade to 4-wheel drive is available.
TECHNOLOGY
Whether you’ll use the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for work or play, the ability to stay connected is important, and the MyChevrolet app makes it easy. The app, which is available to both Android and Apple users, allows you to monitor everything from HVAC controls to operating temperatures.
Another important tech update in the Silverado HD redesign is the transparent trailer view. This is a remarkable feature that, through the innovative use of cameras, essentially renders your trailer invisible and allows you to easily see the road behind you.
INTERIOR
The interior of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD didn’t get a major overhaul. Instead, it continues to provide the practical interior you expect from a heavy-duty truck while also offering a comfortable and roomy cab.
LET’S TALK PRICE
For all of the notable new elements, the starting price only bumped up slightly over the 2019 model to around $38,000. Of course, depending on which options you choose, the price could be significantly higher with the most expensive packages driving up the price to $70,000+.
